Keishi neckklace with green pearls
These keishi pearls are attached with fine silver wire to a double black string. You swing the necklace once around your neck with a singular knot. Keishi pearls are formed when the oyster rejects the implanted nucleus and spits it out before the culturing process is complete. The process continues without nucleus. The resulting keishi pearls consist of a solid-nacre composition that gives them the extreme high luster. Keishi pearls come in a wide variety of colours. Because there was no nucleus to guide the shaping of the pearl, their shapes vary widely. Keishi means 'poppy seed' in Japanese and these pearls are also referred to as 'poppy seed pearls'. Length: 80 cm.
